Karen Agnes Kleewein (nee Stump) went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2021, five days short of her 79th birthday. Born in Wichita, Kansas, on June 2, 1942, she resided in Saint Charles, Missouri, for the last 42 years, with her family.
Karen is survived by her husband Paul Kleewein, her children Julie (Tracy) Stephens, Greg (Denise) Shurtz, Laurie (Brian) Glore, Chris (Kim) Kleewein, Kelly (Andy) Sutton, Gary (Kym) Shurtz, Denise Shurtz, 15 grandchildren (plus spouses), and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Elmer Albert, Marilyn (Melvin) Butterfield, Rose Johnson, Ron (Carol) Stump, and Janice (Jim) Brown.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Stump, Ruth (Carney-Stump) Albert, Theodore Albert, and siblings Eldred “Mike” Albert, and Eldon Albert.
Karen loved gardening; she always had flowers and plants in her yard. She enjoyed watching all the birds visiting her bird feeders. Karen was creative; she did ceramics for many years and was an avid seamstress and knitter. As a knitter, she donated countless prayer shawls to the “Prayer Shawl” ministry at her church, Mid Rivers Christian Church.
Karen had a special relationship with her granddaughter, Meghan. Since Meghan was born, Karen always enjoyed spending time with her; they had many adventures together.
A visitation will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Mid Rivers Christian Church in St. Peters, Missouri, followed by a Memorial Service at 4 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Karen’s name may be made to the Alzheimers Association- Greater Missouri Chapter.
